This section highlights key moments from the ECO-Syria Project, including workshops, conferences, and public presentations. Here, we document our engagements, collaborations, and contributions to ongoing conversations around the environment–conflict nexus in North and East Syria.

  • 5-6 June 2025: Dr. Pinar Dinc and Dr. Lina Eklund presented the ECO-Syria poster at the 1st Annual Meeting of the United Nations University Hubs at Hamburg University of Technology, Hamburg
  • 24–25 May 2025: Dr. Pinar Dinc presented Farming, Water, and Turmoil: Colonial Control and Water Politics in North and East Syria at the Colonial Control of Water and Transboundary Water Politics in Kurdistan Workshop at the Department of Anthropology and Cultural Studies, Bremen University, Bremen

  • 28 March 2025: Dr. Pinar Dinc gave an invited talk. The history of, and the situation in, the Kurdish-controlled part of  Syria at the Digital Conference: Theme Day on Syria organised by Lansstyrelsen Vastra Götaland 
  • 26 March 2025: Dr. Pinar Dinc contributed as a speaker at the closed Syria Roundtable Discussion at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs, Stockholm
  • 3–4 December 2024: Dr. Pinar Dinc presented Roots of Destruction: Exploring the Genocide-Ecocide Nexus through the Destruction of Olive Trees in Palestine and Afrin at the Rivers, Sacred Values, and Environmental Attitudes Workshop, Lund University
