Research interests focus on environmental change, territorial transformations and human rights in the Global South. My fields of studies in development geography and political ecology brought me to pay attention to the conflictive dynamics between globalization, internal armed conflicts, unequal geographies of development and local livelihoods. Nature conservation and development, peace and conflict and human rights are central to my current research interest.
In the interdisciplinary research I will conduct between 2023 and 2026 on Environmental Human Rights Defenders funded by FORMAS, we will look into EHRD in Colombia as agents of change at the crossroads of climate change, biodiversity and cultural conservation. With focused in North and East Syria, our research project ECOSyria explores the interaction between environmental destruction and ecological restoration lead by the self-proclaimed Autonomous Administration (AANES).
I have many years of fieldwork experience in the Global South, particularly in South America.
As researcher at the RWI I bring my research and teaching experience for capacity building various programmes, currently, the Afghanistan programme.
